I was just looking at one very similar to this but very worn tonight. This seems to have doubling but it is not the one listed in Cherrypicker's. . I spent a lot of time on it because it did not match the book but looked legit. The R looks like MD on the curve but the UST looks like true doubling for the 71- 74 years. There are 6 DDO's listed on Variety Vista but 3 do not have photo's. I would suggest you contact Mr. Wiles via email and send him some good pictures.
Wexler has 2 listed but not sure if they match. It does look like a Doubled Die, http://doubleddie.com/2393158.html
Thank you so much. I will try to take good pictures. It has nice rainbow toning on the obverse and reverse.
Looking at all those listings I have thrown back a lot of DDO KHD's over the last year and a half I have been looking. Been trying to find a 73 - 001 but no luck yet. This is a nice find. Congratulations!
I don’t think your 73D would be a DDO. I compared your photos with all six of the CONECA listed 73D’s in my collection and nothing matched. Five of the six listed (-001 thru -005) have some notching on the top of the U in TRUST, see attached photo, I don’t see it on yours. I don’t see any extra thickness on the RTY or hair like the -006, on your 73D, see attached photo. Also, the mintmark position on your half is very low compared to anything listed. I think what you are seeing on TRUST is MDD. Larry Nienaber
Is that a die crack running along the top of WE TRUST? Looks like some doubling but I'm not a variety collector.
Do you possibly think that it could be a different die stage? I see a lot of notching and separation lines that say DDO and not MDD. If not the same one you photoed possibly a die stage of another. That's a real nice looking 73D DDO you got there. Phil
Always use the variety sites to match your images too . Coneca takes pretty much the images the same for their DDOs . Which means their all taken pretty much the same .
@atrox001 Where are you getting photo's of all 6?! This is all I can find and there are many items missing pictures on this site. Frustrating not to have comparison photo's of all the varieties available. Where are you
