I was wondering if nickles were like older pennies in that they don't have a mark for Philadelphia minted coins . Have this 1946 nickle with. No mark
Correct, Philly. Other than war nickels, the P mint mark didn't appear on coins until the 1980s. On the older nickels, the MM was on the reverse to the right of the building.
Thanks, that's what I thought, then I started reading some article about Henning counterfeit nickles so I started looked into that, just a plain old nickle though as far as I can see. Thanks again . Today must be the day for odd coins cause I also came across some pennies that are a little off, in sure everyone is tired of looking at pennies by now.
@Walter Marx I strongly recommend spending $10-15 for a copy of The Guide Book of United States Coins (Redbook). It's filled with all kinds of great info including the answer to your original question. Best money you'll ever spend on this hobby
When I come across a ducket I put it in my bucket. How long can this go on? Not sure I want to find out.
It's in my book of things to do, things I remember every night before bed and forget about by morning, but, I'm searching for a copy now. Sincerely glad you reminded me ,that is probably all I needed, some outside influence and reminder. Thanks, next time we speak I'll be the proud owner of the The Guide Book of United States Coins (Redbook).
