Well as everyone knows, I blew my coin budget So, I had to forget about trying to get a mouthwatering AV Aureus from Galerius in FDC from Tauler Fau Herrero Auction/ Spain. So, I went for my second choice a EF AV Tremissis of Galla Placidia/ Ravenna Mint. I had to go to do snow clearing, so I put down a really low proxy bid. This coin/ same condition sold previous auctions for between 3500-5000. So, I could only afford 1400 Euros (hopefully make some extra cash doing odd jobs) When, I got home around 4:00PM/ auction was finished. So after checking my bids with auction, I ended up winning this rare Empress for 1301 Euros AV Tremissis ND struck 455AD Ravenna Mint 18mm./ 1.46g. obverse: Pearl Diademed/ Draped Bust Right reverse: Cross within Wreath She was the Mom of Valentinian III/ Wife of Constantius III ERIC II rarity list #155
Thanks Mat! Ryro Proves that if you do not place a bid you have zero chance of winning, but if you think you have zero chance, and still put down a "lowball" silly bid/ God/ Fate/ Lady Lucky may give you a nice surprise! Like I was completely blown away.
Incredible win, John! Looks great, and an incredibly tough ruler to capture. And, of course, I have a soft spot for AV. Nice!
