I always see people reporting NIFC Kennedy halves. Do they actually hold any value or are they just catch and release?
They have very low mintage, i think 2002 had 3.1 mill, and fewer subsequent years. Might be worth something some day, but I spend them when I get them.
I sort out the poorer quality ones and spend them. The nicer ones, I keep in rolls. The nicest ones, I keep in Saflips in a 2x2 file box I virtually never move. When I come across one that'll make MS67 or MS65 and up with PL, I put them in my "Ready for NGC" box and wait for the next show. People are finding my spenders, I guess. At the Dallas ANA spring show several years back, I took an NGC slabbed MS65PL Kennedy to Dealey Plaza and shot it, ... photographically, from the very spot of the fatal shot. What, too soon?
Oh but I did. I did the whole shmeer. That said, I am a Warren Commission fan, probably the biggest there is. The report is featured in my library. Those late night radio morons are nuts.
