I got this one last night. I hope it is as blue as the first in hand! Wow what a coin. I thought I did good yesterday! What is really funny is most lincoln collectors have been taught to collect RED coins, somehow I am the ugly duckling! Anyone care to venture a grade! Almost looks prooflike!
I like it! I've seen other Lincolns for sale that look blue in the pictures, but I always wondered whether they actually were blue in real life. Here's an example that sold recently on Heritage. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=454&Lot_No=460
second thought: I enlarged the picture, there are an awful lot of marks in the field, esp the obv left
I will echo this warning. When copper is dipped in MS70 then it can turn blue. this is especially prevalent on proof IHC's, but likely extends to Lincolns too.
Treas, Be aware that enlarging pictures does nothing. You can't make data that didn't already exist, and in enlarging a photo that's precisely what you're doing. That's not to say the fields don't have marks in them, but rather to say that judging those marks from a single, small picture that has been enlarged is a dangerous game. Respectfully...Mike
Mike: Click on the attachment, then clickon the little square in the top right corner. I did not photoshop it, just used the image as sent. dangerous, sure, if I did anything to the pictures, the marks are still there in the orginal picture, unenlarged, but I was able to see them clearer in the enlargement.
Man, I think that's honestly a nice coin. Beautiful color, natural or not. Nice pick up. Hope it turns out to be real though. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? Phoenix
It's certified PCGS MS64 BN if that helps. The question is does the blue add or detract from the value. For $4600 the buyer had better be sure; and someone bought it.
