Making excuses as usual. The damage is obvious and the David Hall quote is an example to show the “obvious” wording. Your big boy bias is showing here.

If you’re so sure why not buy the coin and send it in under the guarantee. If I recall that was someone’s earlier suggestion.

Most of the collectors on this forum are small time collectors who resent the TPGs for inflating coin prices and spend their time trying to bash both the TPGs and the market grading system they employ.

If you guys tried to espouse your fringe positions on the CU forum, you would be torched by collectors who are more experienced, more knowledgeable, and hold many of the same positions on grading that Baseball21 and I do.

And before all of the knowledgeable collectors left this forum, those same ideas permeated this forum. All that is left is a bunch of Doug’s cronies who maintain a death grip on their antiquated grading system while bashing market grading which is accepted by the rest of the numismatic world.

The same forum that bans most that don’t spew the corporate line? Yes the fringe group of PCGS loyalists at the home base will do all to shut down anything they don’t like. Nice example.

edited are you talking about? I said in my post “the damage while obvious”. And what on Earth is “big boy bias?”

Furthermore, is that coin in a current auction? I assumed he was posting it from Heritage’s Auction archives, where he gets most of his examples.

But hey, since you want to get involved and want to use my money, how about putting something on the line yourself. Why not bet me since you obviously agree with TypeCoin that it is a mechanical error.

You told TypeCoin to buy the gold coin and submit it:

"If you feel so strongly about the original PCGS AU50, buy the coin and submit it for appearance review."

If you feel so strongly about the obvious damaged quarter you should be willing to do the same as you told him. Or is it one standard for you and another for others?

And what would you bet? You're going to buy the coin and submit it?

That’s not true, people get banned for the same reason they do here, they cross the line.

Furthermore, they aren’t the fringe group. This forum is for the outcasts. If you guys spent more time lurking over there, you would start learning how little you really know.

I would, if it were for sale, and I could get it cheap enough. As for my bet with you, I’m thinking $100 would work well.

So what are you doing with the outcasts? Why not spend more time with your preferred people over there?

Plus, a lot of assumptions in your post. Do you know how much time I spend on that forum or how much time others are on there?

That could work if you got it and if you documented the process.

I’ve been a member of all three forums for a decade. I like the software better here. PCGS upgraded their software a few years ago and it still sucks. The traffic on NGC has become so low that there is nothing to talk about.

And I’m not a PCGS person. I have been an NGC customer and Registry participant for a long time. And a few of the Jefferson collectors on the CU forum get on my nerves. So I hang out here, where I can share my collection and discuss numismatic principles in a lively debate.

I don’t know how much time you spend on that forum, but it’s not enough if you think that people simply get banned for not drinking the koolaid. Do you have the same handle? How many threads have you started? How many posts do you have?

So you are staying away from all the "more experienced, more knowledgeable" folks?
    Maybe....
    But no....
....the outcasts are plenty good as long as they don't question you or get on your nerves...:p

Very few people are more experienced with Jefferson Nickels than me but the guy I butt heads with is an EDS full step, full details, full strike guy while I am a luster and eye appeal guy.

Wrong again! If you haven’t noticed, I love to argue/debate. Why do think I’ve been engaging Doug for all these years?

But while we are talking about getting on peoples nerves, I don’t like being ignored. I asked you three questions in my last post, and you answered none of them.

I answered your questions; I don't see any others.

But if you want your implied questions answered too:
    1. U1chicago
    2. It's different based on an eBay issue involving Kryptonite Comics ....a multi-page thread that was poofed long ago
    3. The posts and threads include a mix of US / World / BST
    4. Some of the juicier stuff has been poofed

There is a reason that I don't go over to the CU forum, and it is not for the reasons you stated. I for one am not in bed with PCGS, I don't need to kiss her goodnight. Neither does my collection.
If I wanted to go hang around a bunch of self empowered know it all's, you could guarantee that I would be there. But I was not raised to trust someone just because they say they are the best. I want proof. The proof comes with someone giving their opinion on coins and how I relate to their answer. Not anyone trying to shove it down my throat, as others you hang with.

You sir, have my respect in the series that you collect. And I would never argue with you, especially when it comes to todays market grading. Do I always agree with your opinions NO. Will I in the future, I don't know but as long as you pass your knowledge and teach what you know, then I will be there to read your comments.

That is simply an opinion, and I'd imagine that you should have said
"Before all the collectors I agree with left."

There is a difference between inflating coin prices and their attempts to over grade with out compensation.
The coin that started this thread is a good example, Lets give it a 67 it should receive more money? Tell me how that was wise?
To you, me and every other person that has posted here, has said the coin had too many contact marks to be a 67. Except one.

Didn’t Shane use Kryptonite Comics as his username across the board?

You have enough posts on that forum to recognize the expertise that exists there. But if you want to pretend that a knowledge and experience gap doesn’t exist, that’s on you.

The issue wasn't with Shane's username but with what he was doing near the end (i.e. not paying consignees, not replying to concerns, etc). And my role had to do with an eBay transaction related to the matter.

And I've had enough experience to realize that the moderate members tend to remain on the sidelines in arguments involving grading (either not wanting to get into it or simply being afraid of being banned) while the fringe group of elitists makes sure to squash anything that threatens their precious market perception.
