I found this 1908 cent in a yard sale. I need help on the grading. The dark spot in the top left is a shadow.
I would say that without having the coin in hand or a better pic, my grade is no higher than AU, but it does look to be a very nice coin! It could be MS, but hard to say.
May be the photo, but the color doesn't look natural to me. That said, I'd grade the coin somewhere between high AU and low MS....Mike
Treashunt: My original post with a grade of AU58BN is based on the slight wear below liberty and the ear as well as slight wear on the reverse wreath. That would place it as an upper AU in my opinion, but not mint state
The obverse looks like it has substantial wear. All the diamonds are missing as far as I can tell from the pics, which leads me to conclude a XF is the best it would grade. Plus, it looks cleaned. Of course, it may just be the pictures. Guy~
The images look distorted but my guess is that the coin is AU and I have questions regarding whether the color is natural or not.
Man - maybe my eyes are shot, but I can't tell wear from distorted picture. So maybe AU or MS, maybe clean or not cleaned, maybe brown or red. Did I leave anything out? I would say the color in both pictures appears to be off. My best guess is AU detail. It looks like it has some really nice details, but I just can't tell.
the pic is too distorted for me to tell if there is any wear or not, but it looks to be a nice coin regardless of whether it is au or ms
