Strangely enough the only problems I ever really had on ebay in the long run were as a seller. I had one person leave me a neutral because "it took 13 days for the package to get to me after i paid with paypal", despite the fact that the package was going across the country in mid-december. I had another non-payer, whom I negged, then he gave me some sob story about losing his job and wanting the item and could I wait til he cashed out his 401k. No, I couldn't. I pulled the neg after he agreed to fill out the non paying bidder form. The most trouble I ever had was from a guy who bought 6 1st edition books and didn't know how to read a number line. So after he negged me, complained to ebay, wanted his money back and keep the books, threatened me with bodily harm and legal action, and complained that it took 2 months for the books to get to him after he requested the media mail rate for its cheapness; I sent him an e-mail of the pages of an identification attribution book for the books in question, and told him I couldn't believe that a history teacher could be such an idiot and an @#$%^^%$#@, and that any further harassment from him in the form of never ending e-mail would end badly for him as I would contact the authorities and turn the threats over to them. Strangely enough I never heard from him again

I got my one and only neg from a guy who won an old rookie card. Won it for 99 cents! The picture showed a crease in the card, he negged me because of it. I gave him a positive because he did pay in a timely fashion, which is what his part was. I can live with one neg in 10+ years on ebay.

I did receive a batch of HIGHLY overgraded Franklins, he uses stock photos which he did not divulge, ( I was told that if they were "actual" photos it should state as such in he auction ) from an Ebay power seller and sent them all back. I ended up with no coins and shipping costs two ways. I gave him neutrals. He returned the same to me.

If I may ask... what was wrong with the auction? I've been following this soap-opera from its inception and, when I checked out the auction in question, couldn't for the life of me see anything wrong.

What was "wrong" was that this creep had a hidden reserve and refused to complete the transaction when the high bid didn't meet his expectations.

He was trying to cheat EBay out of the fees they charge for a reserve. According to his own claims Ben paid him without waiting for his permission, and that translated into a non-payment neg!

Personally, I doubt his statement that he is through with EBay, and I suspect he has already set up a new ID.

C'mon dude, you asked for a whuppin' by starting this thread. Anybody who's followed along knows that you're barking up the wrong tree.

and the fact remains that if you could prove a word of any of this, you could sue eBay for their faulty software. The fact as I see it is that you tried to list an item to sell for profit, it sold (at a loss) and you tried to back out of the deal. eBay is clear, once the auction has ended, the contract is made and both parties are expected to live up to the deal. You have tried in various ways to back out, and blame anyone that you can in order to justify your behavior. You should just either take the loss or take the negative fallout that comes with NOT completing the deal, but to try to re-list this item is nothing short of fraud.

Stop blaming other people and accept responsibility for your mistake, or prove it was eBay's mistake and sue them. Either way, your attempts to get the buyer to let you "off the hook" for your own mistake, is irresponsible. Give your son an example of what a man does when he makes a mistake; own up to it and work hard to correct it, don't try to pass it off on others.

There was nothing wrong with Ebay at all, only the fact that they charge for reserve prices. Nathan tried to skimp the system, got caught, and is now throwing a tantrum. crude comment removed.

This is the only forum i,m active in and i check the threads 4 or 5 times a day and the thread -Bullys- caught my attention.. I,ve make a lot of friends here and also done commission coin carving for members ..With the number of members we have and then adding their friends, family, coin shops, other forums, etc. to the number, I think it,s safe to say how we conduct ourselves here and on ebay has a big effect on how buyers and sellers look at us and if they want to deal with us..Trying to save a few dollars on one deal can cost a person thousands in future sales, sometimes we have to suck it up and hope the next one does better.
