I found an interesting penny that I was positive was double died..took it to a coin shop and it was confirmed. They think I was trying to make money cause the first penny that I brought with only 2 of the same shadowed qualities got shut down and claimed "environmental damage" I just. Want to know what a double die looks like to know what to look for..this one got shut down with "that's what you look for, just not prominent enough to have value". I feel like they are just cheap. Could anyone tell me?
Your gonna have to post a photo. If you want an opinion on the coin you have. Variety vista has a lot of examples. http://varietyvista.com/index.htm
Ok I for the life of me can't get this to work through this. Would you please be willing to email or text me? I would really appreciate an opinion from someone who knows more on what they are talking about. [Edited to remove your personal contact information, per Rule 3C.] ~Moderator
FYI - double died is the incorrect of saying it.. it is actually Doubled Die Quote - "Note that the proper terminology for this occurrence includes the letter 'd' at the end of the first word, hence "doubled die". The term "double die" without the first word ending in 'd' is not proper numismatic terminology." closed quote https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubled_die Here is a good reference website - http://doubleddie.com/58222.html
Welcome. Sorry, but I had to edit out your email address, per forum rules. If you can learn to post a photo here, though, we're happy to help.
