I'm glad to learn that your methods of relating to peers on CoinTalk doesn't necessarily crossover into the real world. I thought you were declaring your way of dealing with everyone. My bad. I misunderstood.
Yeah. Let’s not forget all of those who fought and died, many several years younger than me. But apparently, some people think that with age comes entitlement and a license to say and do whatever they want.
I think I'm going to have to pile on here, too. https://www.thoughtco.com/einstein-proposes-his-theory-of-relativity-1779192
It applies in real life too to a certain degree, in the sense I mirror how non-authority figures treat me. Obviously if a cop treats me like crap I’m not going to go out of my way to bounce it back.
It is what it is. I don't want to get in a huge back and forth over such a low IQ statement, but here and there it's hard not to say anything. Sometimes a statement is just so wrong and misguided that just wow really
And the end has just begun. I think this is exactly what Kurt was getting to. Most of the time a youngin doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Respect goes both ways. And to think that you have contributed nothing to this thread but negatives to folks comments.
Hey he could think he's a platypus! A platypus walks into a pharmacy and ask...do you have any chapstick? The clerk sez yes...the platypus sez put it on my bill.
Should we go back to not having TV, no internet, no cell phones, better times right? The younin crap is exactly that crap. A kid or early teen is one thing 20s and 30s give me a break. You don't really want to play the generational card Every generation has issues and this I’m better because I’m older stuff for middle aged people is complete nonsense.
Life sure was easier. Still off topic. The generational card does come into play in forums tho. I wish it didn't. There is no telling someone's collective expertise by their age. I wasn't saying Kurt was right. Don't bust the old Man and he won't have a reason to bust you back. I like Kurt for who he is, and respect why he says the things he say's that's all. That doesn't mean I fully agree. Just the way I was raised. It has fully been forgotten how things used to be.
Kurt, I have no idea who the “gentleman” you are referring to, but this isn’t a contest where those with more experience carry more weight. We are on a numismatic forum and everyone can make their contributions based on the merit of their posts. Calling people “whippersnappers” in an attempt to marginalize their opinion based on a perceived lack of inexperience hurts your credibility more than it does theirs. What I’m saying is that if you truly do have decades more experience, show it by making quality informative posts. Many of the posts I see you make are toning posts that are hyperbolic and do more to hurt your reputation than help it. You gotta remember, nobody here knows your numismatic resume, all they know about you is from reading your own posts.
Age has very little to do with knowledge. There are countless areas in life with decades old way of doing things or knowledge is outdated at best or completely wrong. There's a reason why science and medicine among other things improves with new generations and implying we should just stick to the old way is flat out wrong I don't have a problem with him at all, but if something that dumb is said I will say something
You can believe that all you want just like defending the top two TPG's on whatever they do. I am not gonna ague with you over what I have visually seen in hand either. Just like I am not gonna take some pharmaceutical drug that makes my arse bleed, make me vomit, blurred vision etc. etc. etc. I get along fine just how I was made to be. If you are willing to stand by that statement then have at it. The Science and medical industry has done nothing to help in my opinion they have made you a slave to it. Just like a TPG Aleve and an occasional anti-biotic besides a healthy lifestyle is about all that enters my body. Just like most of my collection is raw coins.
