The problem is, Lehigh, that I have been a serious numismatist over twice as long as this “gentleman” has been alive, have been constantly online longer than he has been alive, and have been writing software longer than he has been alive, and I’ve earned my Masters longer ago than he has been alive. Experience has proven to me that the Internet has become a net (no pun intended) negative. If you want one reason, start with lack of control over our data, and our privacy being up for bid to the highest bidder. And as for just one dealer who uses the net as his dumping ground, umm, err, he advertises on this very site, and has for years now.
And I’ve been into numismatics a decade longer than many of the current young numismatists, and I don’t remind them at every opportunity about how much more I know and how much more experience I possess, I simply attempt to share what I know. You sir, think your expertise is a license for you to be rude to the younger generation. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re citing all of your achievements as well as your history in numismatics to discredit what I say and to silence me, is that correct? Or what is your reason for arrogantly spouting off what you just said?
Only because the evidence is so overwhelming, and by no means just here on CT. The interns I deal with every year are dumber than bags of hammers. And they’re supposed to be the elite students. Not their fault, though. Education has become ideological indoctrination. Get used to being presented by what you call “rudeness”. You haven’t seen ANYTHING yet. It is the way of the world. The real world doesn’t do safe spaces and trigger warnings. My generation was TAUGHT to be “in your face” and hyper-competitive. Maybe it was the “Cold War” ethos. We didn’t DO “cooperative paradigms”. We see no reason to change.
Then get used to me reciprocating your rudeness and equally taking you to task for your nonsense. I’m following you now. It works both ways dude.
Not taking sides here, but as a general observation, STANDING OVATION for this comment. Take it as gospel.
I’m a mirror of how I’m treated. You’re rude and cocky with me, you get rudeness and cockiness right back. You’re civil and share your knowledge and expertise like an adult, and I do the same.
Come on Ya'll we all know that @V. Kurt Bellman has no filter, and what ever he says explodes from his mouth to his fingers without thinking. Those of you that are younger take him with a grain of salt. Yes rubbing it into the wound hurts. But it wont hurt as bad the next time. I have been on this roundy round with Kurt it doesn't do anything but end a thread. I will have to say that most of the time one who doesn't take the chance to learn will be left behind. We are all collectors here Mr. @1916D10C all you are doing is fueling the fire. I choose to respect my elders whether or not they are wrong. It's just the way I was brought up.
That will come to an end one day, I'm afraid... like when your boss blasts you and you give it right back. Guess what happens next?
The generals that didn't know what Fat Man and Little Boy were had the same attitude. The world has been shaped and turned on it's head technology wise by people of all ages not to mention that wars are won and lost by people under 40. But if you want people to get off your lawn so be it. Age is a low IQ way to say I am better
The moderators here have authority, not the members. So I fail to see your analogy. The way I talk to most people here is certainly not the way I talk to my boss.
