Check out this coin that I pulled from an original UNC Roll. This is the neatest error I have ever found in a roll. It looks like an extra piece of metal that was struck on the planchet. I am going to send this off to see exactly what it is. What you do you guys think it is? Thanks Tom

it looks like a " struck thru" error...a piece of press dust/scrap metal that got swedged onto the coin during striking

It looks like it was Struck Thru a Lamination peel from another coin as it does not look it is part of the coin in the pictures!

What do you think the premium on this coin would be? It is attached to the coin and it is a piece of copper metal. It is amazing when you see it in person how the T in trust is struck over the piece of metal.

This might be from a small round bead of metal that was rolled flat into the metal strip used to produce the planchets.

    tdec,

There is little if any premium for this type of error over the actual value of the coin!

It would be a rare error for a coin to be struck thru-lamination error.$$

One should also remember the problems the US Mint had in 1960 at both the Denver and Philadelphia Mints. Error's upon errors. The area above the T seems to be peeling away from the area. Hence there was a stray piece of Copper pressed on the Cent. Nice find Tom

    Tom,

I wouldn't personally do that. It's your coin, your decision.

I send things in all the time. The thing is I really really like this coin and its value has little or NO meaning to me. I really just like this error and that I found it in a roll that I have had for years makes it that much better!! Thanks for your opinions but I really think this coin will be nice for my kids one day to say... you know what dad found this and he saved it for us!
