Stumbled upon this coin. Did a little searching and it appears both side have lines so it doesn't seem like it's caused from a machine. First one I've come across like this so I don't want to jump the gun and just say it's a mixture issue. Anyone know what would cause it?

I let it soak in acetone beforehand just to make sure it was actually part of the coin. Assuming worth all of 1 cent due to the fun it had in circulation, but still keeping it because it sure looks neat.

    Thanks

Need to think.. Copper Plated Zinc Cent

I see evidence of DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling on the Date which would be created from a worn die strike. The lines are Linear Plating Blisters.

    Keep it.. It is neat

Ah. That helps a lot. I didn't realize the copper plating was 100% copper -- thought there was still a mixture involved. Happy to know the name of it. Came across blisters before (just a bunch of tiny bumps), but haven't seen the linear version until now.

    Thanks again.
