That is whats available and the cheapest at that time on daves collectibles. Other websites cost more.

I'm trying to get some uncirculated washington quarters because I have a lot of circulated quarters. Now I'm also trying to acquire ATB only from the US Mint.

Is that the "Dave" that's in western Michigan ?

 

The '77-D roll is by no means common but is a little more readily available than about one fourth of all dates. If it's an original bank wrapped roll you might want to save it intact but there is a neat variety to search. On about .2% of these there is a reverse with the "N" in "Unum" a littler farther from the eagle's head. I believe this is a distinct reverse I call the type "d" or "small motto" but at least one expert believes it's just more lightly hubbed than others.

Because of the way coins are released by the mint if there's one in the roll there are probably 2 to 9 more.

Your roll is probably composed of coins from mint sets. If so they are much nicer than bank wrapped rolls but there is no chance of getting a type "d".

 

So if one wanted to buy uncirculated rolls or singles, what do you think is a good year to "invest" in?

 

ATB rolls from the mint are fairly pricy. Do you think they are better than bank rolls?

 

Where did you find that information on scarcity, and variations? Meow is very interested collecting clad quarters, and anything that could make them even more interesting; Meow would want to pounce on it.

 

Not sure about his locaton but it's davescollectibles. Yes according to his website these quarters are from mint sets that they can't sell so he rolls and sells them like that.

 

All the bank rolls are all circulated and all have dings, bangs, rubs from each coin. Here is the flow of the coins below:

1. US Mint-->Federal Reserve Bank Members-->Regional Bank members-->retail.

2. For us to buy it directly from the US Mint --> Collectors.

I prefer the 2nd and all in MS condition 100%. If you buy a roll and open it immediately and found some issues, return it immediately and you get replacement. All of my coin rolls from the mint have never been open and I prefer them in Original Government Packaging (OGP). If I found some issues with them, well I just have to eat it. But not my least of worries.

Other retailers have to buy them directly from the mint in bags and they have to be in batches of $14K (see the Mint account disclosure). But they sure get a better discount/price than us for buying in bulk.

 

Well honestly Meow has never opened a US mint roll before. Meow does have one, but did not open it. So as far as you know, US Mint rolls have nicer coins that fresh never circulated bank rolls?

 

In fact, Meow just came from the bank. And it looks like Meow got at least three fresh rolls of Georgia Quarters.

 

The Mint rolls are done by a machine now. The only time a hand touches a roll is when it package the rolls in boxes. Some folks who order large amount of rolls are also done by a machine instead of bags. I have ordered them in multiple so the whole box was full and the clerk told me that full boxes are fully done my machine. People there are nice and they know if you are a regular buyer. They are willing to tell you a lot.

 

More bird quarters for Meow today. See, even the edges are bright and red.

 

In my own opinion they are better deal than anywhere you go get them. The old uncirculated coins "not" in original government packaging command a premium as they have to be re-package by a rolling machine from another federal chartered bank member or retail brink.

 

You buy from the mint in person?

When you said "The Clerk told me", it sounded like to Meow you went there in person. Meow gets it now. Meow has heard you can go to US Mint stores, or kiosks, in certain places. But Meow does not know any specific places they are at; Certainly not anywhere around where Meow lives.

So Meow's little batch of rolls today did not yield much besides new Georgia quarters. Meow did find one very toned one. It is in a dark shade of purple. Meow will save that one.

 

Meow has just realized that Meow needs to take a break from CRH quarters. At least for a while, as there are too many new Georgia quarters in the mix. Maybe in a few months the latest quarter will hit the banks. Too bad the next quarter has dang birds on it again...………………..

 

Meow always love birds. I never seen any meow that doesny love birds. The mext qua rter is ATB while the one you just got was State qtr.

 

Would anyone who has opened a decent amount of US Mint rolls tell us if the coins are a lot better than the bank ones. If Meow remembers correctly, US Mint roll quarters cost $18. And the ones you could get at the bank if you are lucky, are just face value. ($10) So is it worth it guys???????

 

Its a preference\choice. I prefer from mint rolls. The ones from the bank are already circulated. Yes you can tell the difference from coins from the bank vs. Uncirculated mint rolls.
