Why don't you ever show the entire coin or blank in question? That will give all of us more clues to try and answer your questions!

What do you mean by captured with a magnet? If it is attracted to a magnet then it's not a US blank Planchet. It's probably and electrical box punched out plug. US Quarters do not stick to magnets!

these were found in coin machines. all foreign coins are picked out by a magnet. of course some are not mag but today most are . I know what an elect box slug is and its no where near the feel, the shape, the color and they fit Canadian and us 25. found it odd that they ended up in this mach. read back the other things I said describing them. I'm gonna get this camera to do full size but new to the darn thing, its micro whitch I wanted but also standard photo. soon. thx get back

But you have stated that they are flat on one side and rounded in the other.. I am a handyman and I have seen hundreds of slugs. That's what you have described.

They maybe from a galvanized electrical junction box.

Or maybe a Canadian planchet. They are magnetic.

Striking a coin doesn't add any weight to them. Think about it
An upset mill flares both sides of the planchet not just one.
Saphire read up on the minting process. These are manufactures slugs not planchets.

The foreign coins are taken out because of wrong size, wrong weight, wrong metal
as compared to US coins and not nec. because it stuck to a magnet.
The machines are more sophisticated these days.
The fact that these stuck to a magnet, most likely means they are not coins at all. Although there are foreign coins made of nickel and steel that will stick to a magnet. (US nickel is mostly copper and doesn't stick.)
