I recently started paying close attention to my change again. Got out of it for a while and I ran across these three quarters recently when I decided to get a few rolls from the bank. One is the "In God We Rust" Kansas State quarter, then the other two I think are possible errors but I'm not sure. Another is a Washington state quarter. The reverse looks normal but the obverse looks like an error. Broad strike maybe or grease. Either way very flat and smooth. I doubt this is just due to wear. The last is a 1983 quarter with a chunk and lines completely distorting In God We Trust on the obverse, directly opposite on the reverse there is a similar issue over United and the edge looks pinched. What are everyone's thoughts on these?
The weak T in trust may be a filled die, but there would be no premium for a coin like it. The others are all just damaged.
Is it normal for a quarter to wear flat on only one side? Referring to the washington state quarter. I'd never seen anything like that before.
The state quarter appears to have been damaged intentionally on one side, by rubbing on concrete or something like that.
People do all sorts of things to coins, and coins wind up in all sorts of unusual places. It is post mint damage.
