Ebay Problem Developing...

I just won this auction and just as I paid for it with PAYPAL I get a message from the seller (Ron Keech) saying "Don't pay for it, the auction was cancelled." WTH??? I've exchanged msgs with the individual and they claim they are having trouble verifying it the coin sold or not. Give me a BREAK, just check the auctiona nd his PAYPAL ACCOUNT. I've been playing this game for a LONG TIME and I'm smelling scam... I wonder if he is going to pull the same thing on his other auctions

Probably mad that it didn't go for more, he is trying to scam you IMHO. Tom

 

Ebay doesn't say it was cancelled; it just says "ended" and lists a winning bidder. I would say he's obligated to go through with it.
What does he mean he's having trouble verifying whether it sold or not?
I hope you can work it out with him.

I am in the process of trying to find out if i can let this item sell. It was nt ment to . i will get back to you tonight hopfully to let you know if I can allow it. Ebay is sucha pain ,,it wouldnt let me fix the listing when i wasnted to. Give me a little time to get to the bottom of this and i will eithr give you your money back or let you have it,, but I really tryed for hours to canel it.. AGAIN I WILL GET BACK to you ASAP..

I'm not sure I smell a scam, more likely just a weasel who wanted his coin to go for more. I wouldn't expect to get the coin, but since you paid with PP you should at least get your money back. You really have no way to force him to send the coin, but that is what feedback is for.

 

after reading his email it sounds like he has the coin on consignment and he failed to enter the reserve. not a scam in my book, yet, but certainly is asking to be neg'ed

 

Nothing yet after I reminded him that I'd already paid for the item and it he doesn't want to complete the transaction just return my payment. tic tok tic tok tic tok...

The pics are pretty bad, but the hair curls show nice detail for an 1819. It was worth a shot...

Check this out... I just received a full refund.

SAddly it turn out that I will have to refund you your money. ebay listed my item incorrectly. they did not show a picture of the coin when it was intended to be shown in the listings. As well I was un able to add info that HAD to be mentioned in the listing , ALSO in reply to you last message. PLEASE READ the very bottom of my listing. that should clear your staement up. I will not re refunding you your money. Please understand that i asked you and tried to contact you before this item sold/ there for i am clear of all tranfer/ refund loss's you may get. as i am not lossing money becuase of ebay & paypal csot as well as your over willingness to pay so quickly. Again I am sorry that i can not sell this item to you. But After losing moeny to this and lossing money to what the coin cost me. I jut cant sell it for such a low amount. I am a stay at home dad caring for a cripled 3 year old boy, I hope you understand, That my 30 loss is much larger to me then 30 dollars souns.

Ebay will not allow a listing revision or cancellation with 12 hours of ending IF there are bids on it, BUT, they do allow you to add to the auction in a seperate section below the description, you see it all the time: " seller has added the following"

It looks like he got cold feet at the price, as reserves cost extra, he may have hoped for the reserve to hit without " setting " a reserve looking to save a few bucks.

Hope it works out for you Bone, but I suspect you're getting your money back.

EDIT: Just read your refund post AND his full auction. Seller was gambling, 99 cent start/ no reserve to save listing fees. What you decide to do is up to you of course, but grrrrrrrrrr, I'd be ticked....

99cent/no reserve auctions take B's, if you dont have them, dont list them !!!

He said he normally would give a discount on shipping but since the items went for less than he paid for them he had to charge me full price. I told him I wanted them all sent in separate pkgs. I did report this auction as a listing violation. Circumventing reserve listing fees is how I see it.

 

I'd neg his tail hes obviously trying to cheat the system
