Meow bought a ANACS 5 step nickel in a small white holder on ebay. Meow was wondering how that would translate into a PCGS holder. As some nickels have 5 steps, 5.5 steps, and even 6 steps. Is a 5 step Nickel good enough for a PCGS FS crossover? What do members here think about ANAC Nickels with Steps designations? Do you think they are lame, or cool?
PCGS graded is better, but ANACS is better than not being graded at all. And, I think 5 steps would not indicate "full steps".
Meow, you should read this thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/th...erson-nickels-defined-photographically.49827/
Sorry, but I believe you got it wrong. ANACS and NGC differentiate between the number of steps while PCGS doesn’t. PCGS requires 5 full steps or more to call a Jefferson Nickel “FS”. Adding @Lehigh96 to the thread to keep me honest
So guess that ANACS Nickel Meow bought on ebay was not quite a cool as Meow thought...………...Depending on the year and Mint, some PCGS Nickels list for a fortune. And 6 step ANACS Nickels are not seen much too. The Nickel was a ANACS 1947s MS65 5 steps. The small little ANACS holders are very appealing to Meow.
The coin that is graded correctly is better than any...one must understand grading at the time peroid in question is completely different from present day by a lot of standards. There are dates in this series that full steps coins are just about impossible to find. One may want to Google the Full Step nickel club for more information as well an understanding of why Anacs at one time split hairs on 5 / 5.5/ etc. Try finding a 1964 FS nickel..... hens teeth
Meow did not get a hit on google with "Full Step nickel society". Do you have a link to share for that?
my bad... this is what happens when your day starts at 3:50 am,and you're posting something 17 hours later. It's the Jefferson full step nickel club. Above are two specimens the club had made to honor the original design ,that btw was chosen then changed from the art deco design .
So Meow looked that up, and found this. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/full-step-nickel-club-missing.18486/ It says that the website no longer exists...………...darn it.
Says yet another guy who can't manage to do much of anything for himself. Go figure. There's an entirely new world out there if willing to make the very modest effort to discover it, fellas... fault me if it makes you feel better, but it's true.
