It's back in Orlando this year and starts January 10th. Who plans to be there? http://www.funtopics.com/fun-convention.html
My wife always tries to wrangle me into a central Florida vacation each year by dangling the FUN show in my face. I have been there the last 3 years. Maybe I will go again. Expensive coin show for me, including Disney park tickets, airfare for 4, etc.
I was thinking of going but the extended family get together is planed for Jan 12th. Just not enough time as I always drive down from the Philly area.
Trying now to decide - FUN or NYINC. Orlando probably costs less total, even though round trip on Amtrak HAR-NYP is only $94. Hotels are COMPARATIVELY cheap in New York that time of year, but still.... Round trip air MDT-MCO is $171.
Right now, the Kolbe & Fanning book auction has me leaning toward New York, but I do want to commission the New Hobo Nickel people to create an artwork from a modern Kennedy half, too, and they're at Orlando. What to do. Is it too nuts to fly to Orlando, fly back into Newark, catch the tail end of NYINC and then take Amtrak home to Harrisburg?
I really enjoy this show. It's my only vacation each year. My family loves it because they get rid of me for a few days. I'm sure I'll see some of you folks at the show.
I'll be there Thursday afternoon through Saturday. Friday at 3:45 is VAM Thing XVI. All are invited. There'll be door prizes.
Welp, my decision comes down to this - if my son and his girlfriend want to get out of Dodge in January, we'll DRIVE to Orlando in shifts (not in a Dodge, a Taurus), but if I'm solo, I'll do my 2 city fly. Plus, I've learned a very hard lesson - do not venture into I-95 in NC if it has recently snowed. Never again.
