you win some, you lose some......we'll see.......... note bid timing......unbeatable http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280191201780&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018
Man, sweet! That seems like some snipe, congrats man. Best of luck with it, looks really neat, but will have to wait till it gets to you I guess. :thumb: Phoenix
Hey nice one Jack. I just saw an AU that was well over $300 and still had some time left. It looks like a safe gamble with a good return policy.
OK. I gotta be the bad boy. Jeeeeeeezzzzz. Do you really think that you can be SNIPING lincoln stuff????????? The worst thing about collecting is when you start believing things that aren't true....
Anything can be sniped. Sniping actually has nothing to do with the actual price you pay for the item. The term snipe refers to the concept that if you can place a bid close enough to the end of an auction that noone else will have time to outbid you. The percieved benefit to this is that you will get the item for less than you would otherwise but it does not guarantee that you actually get a "good buy". In this case the bid was entered at the last second of the auction, definately a snipe! I also think that Jack may have gotten a good deal! Richard
I'm assuming he's finding irony in Jack's choice of words. Using "snipe' on a coin that has Lincoln on it, when Lincoln was assassinated.
oh, then I guess that it was too subtle for me, but then he said: "The worst thing about collecting is when you start believing things that aren't true...." Still??????????
WOW, snipe/Lincoln thing never crossed my mind........ A snipe works wonders sometimes. You have to know exactly the computer lag time from click to reload, in seconds....and yes, a well executed leaves absolutly no chance of being outbid, BUT, if your snipe amount already HAS been outbid, it is worthless effort...auction is over... I place my bid according to the max I will pay, sometimes it works My gamble was on a poor pic. If the coin is original, genuine, and as lustrous as it appears, bingo, I win....if not, we go thru the return trouble thing again I have bought at least 3 fake 09-S's in the last few months, bought one that was never recieved, and bought 7 nice genuines, a cpl of them from Ebay even ( the genuines ) Ebay is running about 50% genuine so far, we'll see. I have been returned my money 100% of the time on the losers....
It may be even better. Lets hope. I bought one off of ebay last year with horrible and I mean horrible pics for next to nothing. I believe I paid $98.00. This coin was a lovely 64 RB slabed by anacs now. So you see you can really get some awesome deals on ebay.
I would like to humbly apologize for my remark about "Sniping". I know all about sniping, etc. I do it myself. And I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone on this board. I enjoy participating here and I guess it's actually fortunate that I re-read this thread to find out that my comment had maybe been mis-interpreted. I guess my comment was about the "hot" Lincoln market right now. And my comment was whether you could actually snipe something in such a hot market. In other words, are you really going to be able to get a 1909-xxxx lincoln for a cheap price? My thinking was that with the heightened awareness of the Lincoln cents, it would be virtually impossible to get it. And I could be very wrong. Maybe Arizona Jack got a great deal. I don't know. In any case, I apologize to everyone. I'm not here to make enemies. .... Life is too short.
