Lets see your Cherry Picked coin

I just got my most recent "Cherry Pick" in the mailbox today. (Been checking it often) I love picking up that under priced variety coin in a sale where the seller missed that one little detail or holding your breath while bidding on an auction that you hope nobody else sees what you see. I know coins can be cherry picked in more than one way but what I want to see are those missed varieties! Slabs count too if they are unmarked. It might be fun to post your pics and see who knows what the variety is. Here's my most recent find that I got at a 1857 FEC VF price, a relatively easy one to ID

Type of 56?

 

I picked this one at a show.

 

Speaking of 1880 IHC, I was able to get this one at a very reasonable price from an ebay seller yesterday, but have not received it yet (his photos).

An 1810 that I picked up last weekend at the Indian Nations show...a cherry pick that most non-Overton collectors (for that matter, many who do collect by die marriage) wouldn't look at twice because of the cleaning.

 

Correct, I have been trying for one of these forever, It's the closest I will ever be to owning a 56.

For those of us that are not familiar with the varieties posted, it would be great of you could identify when posting pics. Thanks.

 

I like the challenge of identifying a coin and I have good references for IHC's and Lrg.Cents and from what I can see of the 1906 I can't put a reference number on it. It probably would be a good idea if posters made sure their photos clearly show the identifiers for the variety and maybe give a heads up if it is a relatively new find so that we know that our older books ect. won't have the updated material. It would also be nice if the poster would check back in a reasonable amount of time and correct any false Id's or if the coin has stumped the viewers, Id it for us. Personally I am looking to learning about coins outside my comfort zone. Also this thread won't be any fun if someone thinks it is funny to post a coin that isn't a variety.

 

O-101, fairly early die state?
I think I see the "Morse code" on the reverse, but maybe I'm all wet.

It's a DDO with a reverse off center clash. This image shows it better.

 

101 is correct. The prime die state with no obverse die crack at the date is considered R-7. (approximately 4-12 known examples)

Purchased cheaply as a 63, but there's something funny in front of the eagle's beak!
