And I thought the definition of a coin had been stretched to the limit

Saw this in a dealer’s case and initially thought it was a slabbed bottle cap and didn’t really understand why.

How much further can it go?

Surprisingly, I actually kinda like this. The worst part other than the price is the horribly gaudy NGC red insert. Coca Cola stuff is very collectible and this would appeal to the collector who collects both coins and Coca Cola memorabilia.

I'm curious, does anyone know the mintage on this issue?

Interesting! However, if it was outside the holder, it could possibly get thrown away. ;) Another comment- how can you grade a bottle cap shaped coin? How wide is that holder?

By the way, where did you find that coin?

I remember a thread posted about this garbage awhile back. (I may have posted it, I don't remember). What a piece of junk lol.

Is that an actual coin inside the bottle cap?
    Or just an incredible facsimile?

The cap is the coin. It is painted/enameled on the convex side looking like a bottle cap. I think it is one ounce of .999 fine silver.

I mean it’s a piece of metal that has a a set value so I mean it is a coin, just a silly looking one.

If your willing to pay the money and send enough in they'll grade grade/slab just about anything that will fit in one of their slabs.
I saw saw them at the Philly show last August, not very impressive to me.

At least tokens were used for exchange. Bottle caps!!! Just shows that if anything stays still long enough, someone will collect it!!!

An ounce of .999 silver is not garbage.

This would be a nice compliment for some ones' colorized state quarter collection....

There was a CU thread that had the mintage in it but I can't find it. I want to say it was like 25 or 50k. MCM was the product sponsor if I remember right so they should know

By a coin definition it isn't, if it ever took off in the coke memorabilia collector circle though who knows. The red on red with the insert was a marketing mistake in my opinion though.
