I know how you feel. I have never lost a dog, but I have lost my fair share of kitties. It never gets easier. At least you saw it coming and had the chance to say goodbye. Rascal (on the right) was hit by a car, leaving behind his best friend, Kaci (in the next photo). Kaci was a sweet and tiny thing, and loved Rascal like a brother. She was brokenhearted and died a couple years later from heart failure.
So sorry for all of your losses, losing your pets is so hard. We rescue most of our animals, and try to give them the best life we can, that is all you can do. It is too bad most animals don't live as long as we do. John
@chrsmat71 my deepest condolences for your family's loss of Max. I'm sure he was a great pal and will be sorely missed but I am happy that he got to be with you at home for his passing. Max actually reminds me of the main character in my all time favorite children's picture book: be in peace friend as Max is in a great place now. Sincerely, Doug
Chris, Steve wanted me to pass along this message: "Even when you're seemingly down and out, man's best friend is always loyally beside you" Chrsmat => I am very sad to hear that your cute lil' coin-dog has finally decided to move-on … I'm sure that he had an amazing dog's life (cheers)"
We lost our 15yo Jack Russell this year so I feel your pain. I still look hoping he is in one of his favorite spots.
So sorry for your loss. My German Short Hair just turned 13 and has acute renal failure, so will be passing on soon.
My condolences, @chrsmat71. A loyal pet is one of the joys of life, and the grieving that follows their death or disappearance is worth it, even though it can hurt hard and long. I’ve had and lost three dogs and currently have three grand dogs. I’d love to have another dog but my wife refuses. Steve
Sorry for your loss. My coin assistant Oswald (also in my profile photo) passed away this spring. It’s hard as they are not “like family” they are family.
So sorry for your loss.....every dog I have takes a piece of my heart when they go to heaven..this is my Jack Russel 16 years old taking his daily nap. I hope he out lives me because I wonder if I could take the loss. He’s still going strong, chasing squirrels and rabbits in the yard. He’s his daddy’s MAN! His name is Griffon.
@ALAN DAVIS I asked the same thing and if I could have given her my kidneys I would gladly have done so.
Sorry for your loss. Pets are family. I've lost plenty of kitties over the years; currently my only pet is my senior beagle/daschund mix; almost 14 years old and vet says he's dying of at least three things. He hangs on through sheer force of will and his love for table scraps. Every day is a blessing with a senior dog.
Great pets everyone! Very sorry to hear of your loss, Chris. I have an aquarium, but fish aren't very good pets. They won't let me cuddle them.
My Uncle gave my brother and me a couple Piranhas when I was growing up. (Yup, they were legal then.) They got to around 7-8” . They would ALWAYS want you to cuddle them.
Thanks for sharing all your pets and coins again everyone, the second batch of posting helped cheer me up today as well...I really appreciate it. My best wishes to all the sick pets and their human parents! @TIF, thanks for the message from steve! I know how much he loves his four legged kids, I hope he is doing well! Here's a coin I don't own, but it is a 16th century Papal States coin with St. Francis on the reverse, patron saint of animals.
I'm so sorry, @chrsmat71 . It's always hard to lose a beloved animal companion. Here's one that sold for 7500 CHF this morning at the Nomos/Leu auction (conveniently, the exchange rate this morning is exactly 1.00 USD per CHF). Notice the dog even wears a collar!
