I went to the bank to deposit a check and the teller knows that I am a collector. I always get funny looks because I am so young (28) and collect coins. Most non coin people think its an old mans hobby but anyways. She said she had 4 rolls of sac's in original rolls. My first thought was NF string rolls. Boy was I surprised when three of the four were 2000 P US Mint Rolls like you would purchase directly from the mint and one was a bank 2000 p roll. I just can't believe that someone would cash them in at face value. WOW!
time are getting hard for alot of folks! Perfect timing for you lol she was probably REAL interested in getting rid of them too lol
probably realized that there is no secondary market for them and tying up 100 in coins that won't gain value is a hard thing to do
I went through the bank wrapped roll and found about 11 coins that are atleast ms 66 or above. I remember looking through rolls of these coins 5 years ago and didn't find many that were over ms 64. So I will send in those 11 to see what they grade. They are REALLY REALLY Nice. I will post a picture of one that is really nice that didn't meet my standards for encapsulation. Tom
This coin is of a nice solid 65 grade. I believe this one had a few spots left over from the rinse they use at the mint. The others are way better than this one.
Tdec, Do you have a shot of the Eagle's tail feathers you could post? I have heard that some of the 2000-P Sacagawea "Pattern" Dollars with the enhanced tail feather and that were made for Cheerios and the Space Shuttle flight to Commemorate the Milliineum have shown up in some of the Mint Rolls. Frank
are they rare? It seems all sacagawea dollars are increasing in price after the President's came out. Is that true?
I have the cherrypickers guide and I have been on the hunt for that coin since Iv'e heard about it. I remember going through the cheerios boxes for the coins when I was 19. Funny huh.. I don't ever remember what happened to the cents we had but my younger brother still has his in the cheerios package. I asked him if he ever got one of the golden dollars and he said if he did he probably spent it on candy.
Man, awesome grab! That one you posted, hard to tell but looks like an easy 66 IMO. Wow, real nice man. :thumb: Congrats! :thumb: Phoenix
Just about every coin in the bank wrapped roll looks this nice but mostly better! I am sending 11 to NGC tommarrow.
My Dad has a US Mint roll of 2000 P Sacs. Are they worth more in the roll or should we break them out? Andy
Andy, I for one wouldn't break open a US mint roll. Others probably would if they were looking for the cheerios dollar or the reverse speared eagle (FS 901) I believe they will bring some good premium down the road.
