I have a 1943 steel penny (no doubt about it being steel based on weight) but it has a strong shiny mirror bronze tint to it. Its the only penny in my collection that looks like this. Thoughts......
Have u done the magnet chk? Make sure it sticks could be fake if it doesnt. Here's a link that might help you. Has alot of good info on the 1943 steel penny. Hope it helps https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/genuine-or-fake-1943-copper-penny-768883
If a 1943 copper penny doesn't stick to a magnet, that's what you want. Although it would most likely be a Chinese reimagination cent.
I have not done the magnet test yet but I am pretty sure this is a steel penny. It eighs 2.7 and it looks as if there is steel underneath I guess the copper plating.
Other than all the damage to the one cent, how does it look different and why do you think it's a doubled die?
I dont know if its doubled I posted another pic im still a little new to coins learning as I go along
No it's not doubling. It's a steel cent. I don't know why people want to over think these things. People that start throwing in statements like if it doesn't stick to a magnet it might be a Chinese counterfeit need to just say nothing.
The poster said if it DOESN'T stick to a magnet that's no good. Steel cents stick to a magnet. Copper cents do not stick to a magnet. IF A 1943 COPPER CENT DOES NOT STICK TO A MAGNET, THAT MEANS IT IS NOT A STEEL CENT, BUT A COPPER CENT. THE 1943 COPPER CENT IS INCREDIBLY VALUABLE. AND MOST LIKELY, IT IS A CHINESE COUNTERFEIT. But my previous post was self explanatory.
