Auction sites other than eBay?

One of my favorite eBay coin sellers left eBay and opened a website to sell coins. I have bought a handful of coins from him since he departed eBay. The one big difference is his prices are lower on his new site than they were on eBay. Maybe some of you bought coins from Lee Sullivan or Common_cents_coins when he was on eBay. I believe the store is located in Florida. My experiences were all positive.

Their fees are higher than eBay. The real problem with eBay is they hide listings and want you to use promoted listings to pay more. GC is a good place to buy from but selling can be rough when you see what you get. I do agree they can be good with things like toned ASE but.....

 

I think it's 17.5% although it may have gone up again. I got burned with a couple of coins I just bought from Heritage auctions. Heritage now collects state sales tax so I wound up paying an extra $450! I'm really buried in the coins now.

 

How does one view the "hidden" listings?

That is one nice thing about my state: no sales tax on coins, currency or bullion. They figure it would be the same as having to pay tax on cashing a check at the bank.

You have to individually search sellers. They have freely admitted for a long time they reserve the right to decide who can and can't see listings in the interest of promoting fair selling.

I believe Heritage, just like Stack’s Bowers, has gone to a 20 percent buyer’s fee. Great Collections is either 10 percent or 12.5 percent, depending on how you pay. David Lawrence is buyer fee-free.
