Here's my new coin which arrived today: Cuds on coins lists it as CU-1c-1969S-01 & cross reference LC-69S-4. I first found one of these in 1969/1970 while roll searching. The experience got me hooked on error coin collecting. Thanks for letting me share. Does anyone at CT have one of these 1969-S cud cents?
The cud (broken die error) is on the obverse. Since there is no obverse die in that area, the reverse design is not impressed into the planchet at the cud location. Making a cud has been described like clapping with one hand.
I just sold one off my website last week, in PCGS MS-64 Red. One of my favorite Cuds, and it's actually quite scarce - at least compared to when they first showed up!
Thanks for notifying me, paddyman! I'm a bit new to error coins, so I'm not familiar with all of them.
PCGS MS-64 Red. I bought it from Fred Weinberg's website last week. (Thanks again Fred). Here is the seller's slab photo: If you have an example of this cud, please let me know about it & post it please.
