After the thread on the 67 SMS Kennedy and the results, I need advise again !!! Having won 4 of these guys, for my own collection, I would like opinions. The are the seller pics ( I still have not received the coins, long story, but I do have a tracking number finally) so let it fly gang, pro's and con's.... What would YOU do? http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws...STRK:MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=280183289490&rd=1
Leave them alone. At least for a while. You can successfully dip coins with minor spotting, but it takes an experienced person and proper tools to do it without causing "PERMANENT" damage. I know because I have done both. It has taken me time and I have learned a technique that has worked many times. I have also ruined coins in the process of learning. Proof coins are a passion of mine and I have purchased many with issues. Knowing when a coin can be restored without damaging it, with dip, takes experience and can be risky. Again take your time!!! You could be sorry if you don't. Keep on Collecting!!! Allen
Shipping was ok, the boosted insurance and the added 4% for Paypal. Ebay has advised to followthru with the transaction ( I did ), get my coins in hand then file a paypal dispute on the 4% , they will back me, it is against every ebay rule there about paypal. On the phone, they stated this seller has some serious issues and is just about to get a NARU...I am one of many many reporting him this month
Guess I like old sayings. For those I would say let sleeping dogs lie. In other words, leave well enough alone.
I'd personally leave it alone, doesn't look that bad. But, I'd wait till it gets to you, proof coins are tricky to photograph. You can make a real nice coin look bad sometimes when taking pics of them. JMO Phoenix

Well said. I did not know one could have 2 eBay accounts and have been there since 1999. I apologized on the other thread but thank you for going through all of this trouble. I am going to put my tail between my legs and slink off.
Nahhh, curiosity killed the cat, the dog was smarter....dont worry about it Now, can we get back to topic?
I would say the coin in that pic is not a candidate for dipping. Of course I would always recommend that nobody ever buy a coin with the intention of dipping it because they thought they could make it look better. Buy coins because you like the way they look as they are. You'll be a lot happier.
Thanks...Thats a pretty frosty cam, I think it looks pretty good also, heres another, alot cheaper and not as nice. I'll throw them in an airtite like they are http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280183289494&rd=1
