I dunno - both sides are shifted, which says "off-center." Either way, value doesn't really jump dramatically until details start disappearing, which hasn't happened on this coin yet. Can't come much closer, though.
Interesting. I don't understand the double rim but nothing else doubled. It is kind of like a double strike but also like a slight off center. Doubt it is worth more than a few dollars though. I have a small collection of off center and double strike Lincoln cents. I try to get one from each year but mostly only have 80's and 90's errors right now. For some reason there are a lot of off center 1980's cents out there.
even if it was a misaligned die and not off center I think a couple small factors are being overlooked. does not the year and grade help add a little premium? here is 82 D misaligned die that had a final bid of $22 and does not look as good as the OP coin. if I did it right. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Error-1982-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
My cousin has a penny (1984) that half of the coin on each other is smooth...like it was never touched, then the other half on each side has the print. Do you believe she may have a rare find or is this common? I have never been on this site before. I hope I done this correctly. Thank you
It would be better to start your own unique thread with pictures. But it sounds like someone eliminated one side since it's impossible to only have one side struck without the other. Also coins are struck/minted and not printed. Paper currency is printed. Peace
