I've been out of the jewelry side-business for a long time ....

forgot to mention. My daughter takes my cents and glue and other misc. supplies and makes things out of them. So if you ever see a penny with glue on it think of all the kids stuff that they've learned in SCHOOL to do with coinage.

Maybe someone will post a cent with a feather stuck to it and ask if it's a Mint Error.

LoL I, unfortunately, am guilty of having coins with feathers glued to them. ACCIDENTLY of course!! I make dream catchers and sell them in my Etsy shop and I use a glue gun for almost everything. I had some coins I had been inspecting on my work table and of course, my glue gun has a slow drip and while attaching some feathers to an order, they blow by the dripping hot glue gun and gets stuck to some of the coins that are there!!!! True story!!!

    So here's a few questions ...
    (a) are those cents a Mint Error now??
    (b) Why would someone drip glue on a coin ?

    ooh .. it's an accident.

So let's think about potential accidents involving coins.
    (a) rubbing coins in your pocket can make them scratch against each other creating damage !!
    (b) accidentally dropping coins in a parking lot and they get run over can create some really bad heavy scratches and damage.
    (c) bending over and having coins fall of out ones pockets into machinery (from simple sewing machines to large parts manufacturing presses) can bend them, squish them, etc causing damage.

In minting coins there is a process that is followed. And errors can only occur in that process.

Where as damage can occur from anything.

My sister-in-law used to do a lot of crafting and her glue gun would drip as well. So she would put a coin under the tip so the glue dripped on it rather than the table top.

That's a very smart idea, me, I have dried glue bumps all over my table! And everything else that is close enough to be in contact with my glue gun while it's plugged in lol

My daughter uses coins for craft, from as simple as gluing a quarter to an empty box to creating dragons from coins and various other things.

She's always taking quarters and cents to do stuff with. Pretty soon she'll be using the soldering iron on them ... lol
Maybe I'll teach her how to weld.
