https://www.ebay.com/str/M-Barr-Coi...58/_i.html?_storecat=5897743010&_sop=15&rt=nc What am I missing on these low-grade coins? Are they a rare variety...? https://www.ebay.com/itm/362451771892 https://www.ebay.com/itm/123408383355 https://www.ebay.com/itm/132809644126 https://www.ebay.com/itm/123408500244 https://www.ebay.com/itm/362451772353 https://www.ebay.com/itm/362451766236 https://www.ebay.com/itm/132809709100
That second one will clean up really nicely with acetone, and would probably straight grade XF45, making it a fairly priced coin. But you got to be willing to take the risk and do the work.
I don't think those coins have such a value, because there is also a Best Offer button. So if the seller asks $95, he might also accept a $70 offer. That's still too much though.
He's hoping someone will bite, if they do, more power to him. Anyone can put anything out there with whatever price they like, doesn't mean you have to click "buy it now"
In my experience they don’t budge all that much on the best offers, but maybe it depends on the coin. I’ve had mixed luck- cherry picked a variety and it was problem free, next time was a three cent piece that was bent without being listed as such. Your mileage may vary.
His photos are terrible. I think a couple are better than they appear because landmarks I look for are there. Still not worth the price.
I have left copper nickel cents and bronze cents in up to 12 hours. But it usually doesn't take but a few seconds and some light work with a Q-tip.
As far as the patina, well, it gets rid of the green patina. Never hurts anything else in my experience.
A seller can charge whatever he pleases. It's up to us to use our good judgment and experience to see through a person that is merely trying to separate us from our money.
