I went to the bookstore today and saw this coin in the current CoinWorld magazine. It was so cool looking I had to have it. Saw this 1 on Ebay and pounced on it.

 

Very cool! I found one in my Grandfather in law's bin of random world coins. I hope someday it will find its way into my collection.

 

your grandfather in law's is even cooler than mine.... farther apart with the Brasil letters and hand/sword and even the cowboy hat. wow awesome.

 

Thanks! I was totally stoked when I found it. He collects coins, but doesn't study them, so he had no idea he even had it, and even after I pointed it out, doesn't really understand/care about its significance. I did notice that these two are different and it makes me wonder what the date for that one was. I'm afraid I only took a photo of the obverse.

I found this 25 centavos but I don't know if really is doubled die because it appears only on letters B, R and A of word BRASIL.

 

I see notching on the S I and L. Looks like a DDO to me.

thanks for pointing that 1 out to me. there are more DDO DDR from Brasil too.

 

buy it from him. worth at least $50.00+... $75+ because it is so far apart in the lettering and doubled sword/arm and cowboy hat.

 

He would just as well give it to me. He might be insulted if I tried to buy it. The coin isn’t going anywhere and I believe someday it will reside in my collection.
