Hey guys I was roll searching today and found this 1944 wheat penny and it doesn't look damaged to me and the L is slanted and missing the bottom part. Looks like \IBERTY except not slanted as bad as the slash I used. Can anybody help me ? Is this worth getting a professional to look at? Im new to coin searching and coin collecting more than just all my coins in a bucket. Please help me! Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Copper is soft and it looks like the "L" to a hit. Not a Mint error.

To me it doesn't look damaged. I just dont see how there wouldn't be the bottom part there anymore or even a trace of it or how its slanted as much as it is from being hit by something even as soft as copper is

Theres no other damage around it though also the edge hasn't been bent. Maybe my eyes just arent trained as well as yours are

The coin didn't leave the mint that way. The die would have to be damaged, and there would be hundreds of thousands of this known variety.
Copper is relatively soft. Coins are abused thousands even millions of times in their daily usage.
Something hit that letter and moved a piece of it over.

I think the bottom leg of the "L" may have been missing from the mint due to a debris filled die. The "L" on these type of cents is a common place for damage
when coins are being put into rolls. they get hit by the edge of other coins.

Decades of circulation wear would eliminate any sign of a hit..
    Not a Mint Error

Your pictures are too small and dark. But you really can't find it?
