Looking for any thoughts or opinions on this quarter. The weight is correct and concave on Washington head is not going through the coin. On the tail side the deformation is not protruding past anything else. I have had 4 dealers look at it and 1 said its damaged, 2 unsure and the other wasn't interested. Please let me know what you think. Thank you. Jason 15387021432737082102962600172538.jpg 15387022609762949127648265082117.jpg 15387023192607953921602048220562.jpg

There is no impact marks on the coin and the concave and protruding are not on the same side of each other.

Heated over a campfire, by someone who lacked a marshmallow and a stick.......

That's funny but it's weird that it's off center lip and it's true on both sides I'm trying to understand how it got like this

    I agree about the heat.

For you to understand, I recommend you start experimenting with various type of flames on coins. Have you ever seen anyone (kids, or adults) throw coins into campfires or those backyard fires?

Sorry, but it's just severe heat damage as others have said. Don't read too much into it. The high heat caused distortion, nothing more. Welcome to coin talk.

The original coin could have had a minor misaligned die (which carries no additional value on an undamaged coin), but with the damage there is no way to say with certainty. Spend it.

Also, if 2 "dealers" could not identify this as a damaged coin, I would be hesitant to trust their opinions in the future. Just my opinion

Rereading this ... were you trying to sell it to a coin dealer ?
Because dependent upon what you were trying to do would get various results like this.

I'm looking at all options and I would entertain the possibility to sell it, if in fact the value is worth it.

"Worth" and "value" are not the same thing. As a damaged, worn, over- produced quarter, its worth is less than face value. But you could spend it for face value, even though it is deteriorated, because it is still considered legal tender...or sell it to someone who is uninformed and doesn't know any better.

What do you consider would be the right thing to do?...Spark
