hello please look at my recent purchase and let me know if its an upgrade candidate. i was recently asked by one of the forum members it was someone who regularly reads my pos can t remeber who it was but they . said getting an 1840's half dime in good condition is difficult. i was going to say no but i didnt have this in the bag then so here it as promised enjoy
Wow...thats a beautiful Half Dime Spock!!! I believe that I was the one that made the statement about finding Half Dimes. You sure proved me wrong..lol. That is one gorgeous coin. P.S.- I'll PM you my address. Remember to send it Next Day Air...insured of course!:thumb:
well i am glad you enjoyed it indianhead. i am sorry i forgot it was you. now i just need a capped bust half dime hopefully a good specimen will come soon.
Thanks for posting your coin Spock. I'm sure you'll find a Capped Bust Half Dime just as nice as your Seated Half Dime. When you do find one, remember to post a pic of it.
sure will do if you come across some nice examples let me know. its getting harder and harder as i move further and furthe rback in time
I'll let you know as soon as I can when I find one. Any particular date that you're looking for in the Capped Bust Half Dimes?
nah its just for my type collection but i am looking for something thats at least as good as the piece posted above.
There's one in PCGS plastic on Ebay right now..MS65. It doesnt have the luster of your Seated Liberty Half Dime. It depends how much you care to spend and who you spend your money with. Here it is anyway......... http://cgi.ebay.com/1832-Capped-Bus...eZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem
I didnt think it looked right either for an MS65 not to have any luster. The description says its there but I didnt see it...lol. I'll keep looking.
There are actually few upgrade candidates out there. Yeah there are some, but the vast majority of them have already reached their maximum grade. There's just too many people playing the crack-out game. Anyway, when you buy coins make sure you are happy with the coin as it is - don't ever count on the coin getting a higher grade when and if you re-submit it. You'll spend a lot of money and end being disappointed a lot of the time if you do.
i know thats coins 101 my dear mentor but now that i have already bought it without thinking of it as an 64 do you think it will get there. oh i forgot to mention i have never sent a coin for regrade a si dont sell them but its always nice to know if i made out with a better deal than i thought i did.
OK, you asked. If anything I think the coin is over-graded. The obverse has way too much chatter for a 63. Small coins like this, you're not allowed that many marks. I'd say it's a 61.
yea i am always asking merely saying its good or not saying anything at all is not good for the hobby many people watch and learn you know. i agree small coins shouldnt have many marks i will have to wait to see the coin in hand but i think it would make a 63. Please always be blunt and dont worry about my feelings either my grading skills will be validated or i will learn either way i win
and the one word makes all the difference although i am beginig to develop a new theory after seeing FUN. there are tons of buyers who will see a green slab and think its a candidate for an upgrade and pay a premium no questions asked. It looks like as long as you have a green slab your coin is worth more and you will get a lot of people paying more to buy it never mind whats actually inside a few evn suceed fueling the frenzy even more
