Not sure what the big deal is - even if all his coins did get 70's, would you still buy the coin and not the slab. I know some people will pay for the slab without regard for the coin. I have yet to buy a Reiver(did I spell it right) large cent for the simple fact it seems people want to pay for the name on the slab and many of those are over graded. Just my own opinion.
Ooo - I see a little ding! It is not worthy of your collection and being the humble person that I am - I will adopt it to spare you the expense of any future expenses relating to this coins welfare. Beautiful coin!
Ben: I would tell you what looking at that coin did to me... but it'd be edited by a mod... LOL NICE coin!
Chuckle, this thread was for the intellectual members of the group. Those able to carry on two trains of thought at the same time, LOL... As far as JR's coins go I've seen slabbed coins which were worse than this one (grade wise) and graded at least 10-15 points higher than the coin was. This coin was purchased (on Ebay) at XF from a member of the BHNC. I dare to say if it had been graded with the Revier pedigree by NGC or PCGS they would have put AU-58 on the slab. His name means a lot to those who collect early American coinage. Take Care Ben
I have made no bones about my feelings on PCGS and the DH Koolaide drinkers, but if DH was abusing his trust and position, it would have been big story looooong ago, it has not and is not. Nice coin too !!!!!
