Can you please edit your post and click the "post all as full image" button? The coin is too small to really see.
Much better. Assuming it’s real (the color looks off, but it could be the finish), I’d say it’s worth melt value for one silver ounce (coinflation.com). eBay has all sorts of listings with values up to $35, but you should check sold listings to get a better idea.
I don’t know what you mean by “good source” but you won’t find that from a coin dealer for less than $15. Without more info, I’d be a little cautious about this source. The only reason I could think that someone would sell pure silver for that much less than melt is if it’s not pure silver. You could probably get $12-13 just walking into a coin store and selling it.
Thats what i meant by good source lol guess it came across as some underground dealer or something lol
It definitely doesn’t have that ‘silver appearance’ that almost all silver coins/tokens have. It looks too dull to be real silver. IMHO I doubt its authenticity. I hope it’s real. Sounds too good to be true if you actually bought it for under melt value (especially since any reputable coin dealer tracks the value of silver). Try testing it by placing an ice cube on the coin and seeing how well it conducts heat. Real silver will become ice cold very quickly when compared to other metals. If the ice cube melts quickly and the silver is cold to the touch, then it is probably authentic. I suggest using another coin or piece of metal that you know is not silver (a clad half dollar maybe) and comparing the two.
I’m very sorry, please do not take my lack of faith on dealers as some sort of pawrsobal insult. I have NEVER met a dealer who sells silver for less than melt. Not a single one. Especially with how low silver has dropped, they have been losing money if they have held onto anything. I am more skeptical than before of its authenticity. No dealer sells BU silver rounds for less than melt... unless it’s a fake round. Do you have a gram scale?
I understand what your saying. I do have a gram scale but it dosent work right anymore. It does get ice cold. It has weight to it just like my other silver dollar coin of the dame size. Fhe color is faded more so than the other coin but I think its just besn handled more
Nothing about that coin says silver to me, except for what’s on the coin itself. If that truly were silver, I’d go back and buy every single one of those, sell them for $2 more and call it a day. Something doesn’t add up...
Well, I dont kniw what else to tell you other than what I have and theres the pics. Theres only two things it can be real or fake and if its fake then I lost 10 bucks on it if its real then I made a little.
