In fact my h-10's I've done just that.... slabed them myself. And just may for now on send them to Messydesk to have him attribute them.

 

The one buffalo in 67 with an D/D variety is yes an $800 coin without the variety it is an $180. Coin.
So does that paint a picture? Does me..... and Rick I'm quite sure you'll agree how hard is it to determine an D/D or D/S buffalo?

 

If I read the variety section right they wanted research papers and still charge 12 dollars for variety . Only 500 a coin in value to .
I think what they mean by research papers, is from a variety company .

If that true, their nuts on the varieties . why would I paid a variety company money for Attribution and them ( Anacs ) to .

 

So here's a grey area...you send in a coin as I did knowingly yes it is a variety and it is also a nice coin at least in your eyes.
The TPG grades it at a high Mint state coin the coin is now a $200 +/- value add the variety it shoots up to $800.
How could one sending in a raw coin know for sure that the combo of grade and variety now exceeds the limit.

And if so why wouldn't the TPG give you a resolve to pay the difference in fee's ?

My only submission to Anacs was through the same kind of show special . Five hundren dollar max. per coin and I new one of my Ike
( 72-S BS strike ) would be a very high grade . To make a long story short, it came back at a 68 and anything higher would of took it out of the 500 dollar max. I also know, this coin will grade higher . Even the Anacs rep. said we could have trouble with this coin . Why ?
69 puts it over the 500 dollar max ...

But NGC doesn't attribute nearly as many varieties.

I am anxiously awaiting the results and conclusion to this suspense novel. If there is one thing i know about the OP- he isnt gonna waste money on a variety attribution that he isnt 99.9% certain of. Ive got my popcorn ready !!

The OPs nickel library is probably more extensive than Anacs btw

 

I don't thing the increase in price would affect a coin sent to ANACS or ICG. We don't jump coins into a higher tier due to value. In a way, many dealers take advantage of this. AFAIK, the top two services are quick to ask for more money.

Perhaps the delay is for them to take another look. Anyway, I had never heard so many cases of terrible customer relations at other TPGS until joining the chat boards. Some customers can be real jerks but they need to be helped and tolerated.

I've never had PCGS do it (knock on wood) but NGC has always been quick to jump something to a higher tier from my experience with them

 

Keep us posted Paddy. I can attest that you know your stuff. Only once I think in 5 years were you wrong on one of mine... and it was a RPD, just not the one you thought. Good luck. I've just accepted it, personally, that I sometimes need to send my coins in multiple times for them to get it right. Sad but true.
