I got a killer deal on some IHC rolls last night a coin club auction. My question is whats a fair asking price for a roll of low grade IHCs? All are mostly from the 20th century ranging from AG to VG, with some having cleaning and corrosion issues.

I looked on eBay and it seems most of those rolls are mixed with wheaties so I cant get a feel for what a roll of pure IHCs would go for.

Sorry, but at those grades, I’m not certain you’ll generate much interest, unless you are deceitful in your selling efforts. You should ebay search sold listings of 50 or 100 IHC that are scattered and shown and maybe use that as your baseline. The only reason to have them in a roll is to hide the contents, IMO.

I'm not sure I understand your question. You got a killer deal but do not know what a fair asking price is. Are you going to re-sell them? Rolls in straight good + usually go for around $45-$50.00. These would be problem free coins.

Theres more to it than that. I paid $21 for 120 IHCs, and about a dozen of them were full or partial Liberty, and a couple dozen from the 80s and 90s. So it was a great deal as far as that goes.

I typically cherry pick the good coins and sell the rest. So I was just trying to see what I could reasonably ask. I think $30 would be fair based on a dollar per G coin and little to no value for the problem filler coins. I'm just thinking a roll of unseen coins would be more appealing than a lot of 30 G coins laid out face up in a picture. Maybe I'm over thinking it, I dunno.

Ok, so what I've ended up with is two tubes that I want to sell. One is of 1880s-1908 in G to VG. The other is all 20th century in G to VG. There are a couple F ones in there too. In addition, since there is extra room for it I added about a six cull IHCs to each tube just to take up the remaining space. Most of the other coins are relatively problem free.

Is $100 a fair price? It's less than a dollar per coin. I want to sell on Craigslist most likely.

Any price is fair if the other person agrees to it. You might have better luck on Craigslist. I would probably try $75, but start high and if no bites, you can lower (or put an OBO).

I feel like $1/coin for a bunch of 80s and 90s IHCs along with a dozen free culls thrown in is a very good price for a buyer. So that would be $100.

I misread that that and thought the tubes did not have 50 problem free coins. $100 is pretty standard for the price I’ve seen them at.

I also got a IHC short set album for $20 and added those coins to the others. That allowed me to pick out all the problem coins and replace them with G-VG problem free coins.

Amazingly, there was an 09 in there which I kept for myself because it is certainly not worth only a dollar like the others.

Unless there’s an S on the back, or it’s in incredibly good shape, there’s no reason a 1909 would command any premium over the other coins.

Redbook shows it as $12 for a G. I was under the impression that all 09 cents including Lincoln's command a premium. Am I wrong in thinking that?

It is currently listed in Numismatic News at $10.00 in G4 condition.

Ok, then I'm not giving it away for a dollar.

The Red Book is published a year in advance and it's pricing for coins is not all that reliable. I use Numismatic News as it's updated monthly. Yours had a mintage of only 14,370,645. This was because of the introduction of the 1909P Lincoln Cent in the same year. It was the lowest since the 1886.

Well, best of luck getting red book prices. Any semi-seasoned coin collector will have seen plenty of 1909 IHCs to think $12 for a G is... too much.

My point was not that I'll sell it for $12, but rather it is worth more than a dollar. I see an 09 on eBay that looks just like mine with a $7 buy it now price.

Guess I should dig out all my 09 IHCs and list them. Good luck!
