I made the decision to expand my collection focus. So I purchased a couple of new coins from that auction. Most notable this Hyperpyron. I normally do not post a coin until I receive but I am really excited about this one.
The provenance was an added bonus, an old prestigious dealer from Amsterdam. I was able to find more information about his firm. ( The coin must have come from when his son ran the business.)

Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Hyperpyron (Gold, 31 mm, 4.30 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, post-reform coinage, 1092-1118. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI Christ, nimbate, seated facing on throne, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. A/ΛЄ/ΖΙω / ΔЄC/ΠΟ/ΤΗ; in right field, Tω / KO/MNH/Nω Alexius I standing facing, wearing crown, divitision and exagerrated jewelled chlamys, holding labarum with his right hand and globus cruciger with his left; in upper right field, manus Dei to left. SB 1913. Slightly clipped and with a very minor graffito of X on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the early to mid 20th century, privately purchased from J. Schulman, Amsterdam (with original ticket).

That's what I liked about it too, DR. If it hadn't of been for that, I don't think I would have bid on it at all. A coin has to have SOMETHING going for it.

That’s a beautiful coin, @BenSi ! Also—Are those padded envelopes in your avatar/icon, incoming ancient coins that you’ve ordered? ;)

LOL. I actually took that pic for a friend of mine to show my mess, I thought it would make a great avatar. The envelopes are empty except some supplies that I ordered for cleaning ( That I learned about here.) I semi cleaned the desk since then.
I go through long time periods of finding nothing to add and then once in a while I get lucky. The auction the other night has cleaned out my coin budget for a bit but I did get some awesome coins.

I'm sorry to hear that. You should have put just a bit higher it sold at my limit. I bid on 22 coins and got 3.

That's a beauty of a coin @Caesar_Augustus ! The details really stand out from the sandy patina. Congratulations on your acquisition!
