Placed a low-ball bid not expecting anything to come of it...Won anyway. Seller's pics in PCGS CAC holder. Still not real sure how an R-5+ (31 to 46 known pieces) die marriage went for what it did. It wasn't even a cherry since the seller listed the Overton number.
I just don't get it. Why on gods green earth would you want 40 of those. I think they look great but just why???
I acquired the below coins last week. Due to the shortage of coins both of them were among the foreign coins which circulated commonly in the American Colonies. They continued to be legal tender until the Coinage Act of 1857. The 2 reales coin was referred to as 2 Bits since it was 2-eighths of the Spanish 8-bit Pieces of Eight. This is origin of the US Quarter being referred to as 2-bits today. 1711 Spanish Charles III 2 Reales (Two Bits) 1742(1) Louis XV French Sous
I'm waiting for this to arrive. It is a 1794 S-39. It is the "common" Sprawling Ribbons Reverse. The other is the NC-2 with 2 known. There are about 30 known so even in this condition, it is a great bargain for $132.45. Of course, if not for one other sniper, it would have made the under $50 thread.
