Nickel weight 4.90

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Aaron Nicholson, Sep 17, 2018.

  1. Should I hold this coin due to the difference in weight. I know there are a few 80 pennies that I'm looking for with a weight difference. Any help would be appreciated. 20180917_012859.jpg

The weight difference is within tolerance.

As paddy said. There is always a +/- weight differential that's acceptable. Sometimes this is caused by differences in the planchet thickness. ( thinner/thicker stock )

Spec for a Jefferson nickel is 5 grams +/- .19 grams so allowed weight range is 4.81 to 5.19 grams
