    That is NICE toning:thumb: even though I usually don't buy toned coins I'd buy one toned as yours is.

    I love it, love it , love it!!!

    I don't know what this coin is or what it may be be worth, but the toning is enough to turn my head.

    The coin belongs to my son. It's a modern Proof re-strike of the Maria Theresa thaler. Value is less than $20. This is a coin you buy for the beauty of the coin - as you should all coins.

    I know, I know, it has been said 1,000 times before... "Beauty is in the eye of the ..."
    But I just don't get the excitement over toned coins.
    I guess I am one of the odd ones, the more it is toned, the less it is worth to me.

    Now, if you will excuse me, I need to step out and put on my flame-proof suit...

    It's a no win situation with Silver Dollars. If it is nice and rainbow toned.....then it is likely AT. If it is original and crusty......then it is unattractive, dull, and lacking luster. If it is blast white with lots of luster.....then it has been dipped.

    Lol.....Someone show me the perfect Morgan/Peace dollar.

    Applauding you and wishing you good coin karma. I had a similar situation today - it was an NGC Morgan graded 63 and the seller was willing to let me have it for 60 money (it was a CC) because we both agreed it was an ugly coin. Part of me thought later (when I passed) 'dang, it was NGC slabbed and I could flip it for 63 money & make a profit but that would be trading plastic not trading a coin ~ and if I slip into that trap ~ I may as well buy/sell/trade SGS plastic. No sense spreading bad coin karma by taking advantage of an NGC grading error.

    Actually not the case, there are many many NT Morgans, easily found in Battle Creek, Great Falls and other hoards, I have a bunch of them put up, all slabbed 64star by NGC. Some of my prettiest coins are in those slabs.

    Since I have been on both sides of the fence, I can understand your feelings. But fear not, there is still hope :D It took me almost 40 years to acquire the taste. In time you probably will too ;)
