hey errbuddy, What’s happening? Remember this thread when TIF posted about the awesome replica set given to her by Andres2? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/my-lucky-day-an-awesome-gift-arrived.317856/ Andres ended up sendIng two sets because one got lost in the mail, but both ended showing up. TIF mentioned that she was giving the second set to a CoinTalker. I was surprised and very grateful to find out it was me! There was a bit of a hiccup with the shipping, but it arrived safe and sound: My pics are nothing like TIF’s. I’m hoping to find a frame for it and put it up in my apartment. TIF generously sent a couple of coins too. My first ones of the year, I was sooo excited! One of which is from her personal collection: A Constantine campgate, which I’ve always thought was really cool! I also have some homework to do. These coins haven’t been attributed yet. I want to try most of the identifying on my own. But, if you want to drop a few hints, feel free. It would be much appreciated! I have one more coin to post, I just ran out of pic room. I would like to express my deep appreciation to Andres2 and TIF for thinking of me and sending these wonderful gifts!
Here is th other coin: I don’t even know where to start with this one. It’s nice and hefty in hand! Thanks all! Post anything you want. Erin
Wow!! Congrats, Erin! It looks like you'll have some great fun digging into researching those! That last one is really cool with the ligate emblem! I don't know too much about those at all, but my guess would be maybe something spanish or french from 1300-1600 ish? It looks NICE AND BIGGG! And that one below the campgate, I wonder if that is an eagle in the bottom left? or maybe a hut?
Very cool Erin! Those are some nice coins from TIF. I won't attribute all of them but one happens to be Valentinian I. You should be able to make out the reverse legend.
wow!..that is so kool Erin!!..congrats to you and kudos to @TIF & @Andres2 ..there's some fine coins and great big hearts here at CT ancients..^^
Hooray, the curse is broken! That is one well-traveled set of tokens! Andres mailed it to me from the Netherlands in early March. Despite being properly addressed, it was delivered to the wrong country-- only 15 miles away from me but still the wrong country. Eventually it was sent on its way again and I received it July 31st. We selected Erin as the new recipient and I repackaged the tokens, added a few coins, and sent it on its merry way. Erin and I both watched the tracking. It arrived in Miami and then departed Miami... and was heading backwards! Eventually it landed in my PO box. Apparently, when sending a package to an international destination, initials aren't allowed. Names of senders and recipients have to be fully spelled. I had used only the initial of my first name so the package was rejected by the customs and sorting center in Miami . Who knew?? In their six month journey Erin's tokens visited the Netherlands, New York, Miami, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, and Canada... some locations multiple times. Good luck with the non-ancient large bronze (or copper) coin. I didn't know where to look to identify it. Surely someone on CoinTalk can peg it or narrow it down.
Nice set.....that TIF seems to be a very generous person..... as well a wealth of knowledge. I also know she's an island girl.....which is very cool. In my younger days the Carribean was my play ground too! It's been years since my last trip down... but one day soom will be making the pilgrimage back down. Tif if I do would love to buy you a drink.... how about a Fantail ? There was a bar on St Croix in Fredrickstead Call Buella her speciality drink was the fantail....TG the island wasn't very big driving back over the mountains at night was fun! Especially when you had a few fantails. No road signs..... Maybe a trip down for the St. Paddy's day parade through the streets of Christianstead. Drinking Carribean commas cheers @TIF
Thanks everybody! The token set has definitely had its fair share of nail biting moments. But, it's finally home! Thanks for all the help on the coins! This forum is filled with some of the most generous people I have ever met! This forum pwns yo! Erin
Sorry Erin for my highjacking post... I do stumble in to this neck of the woods sometimes..... some cool peeps lol.
Neat set of well traveled tokens, and a nicely silver camp gate you got there as well! That's a nice score! What's that monogram coin? That's pretty cool also!
Congrats Erin on the cool set and very nice coins! I always enjoy trying to attribute unknown coins, but have asked for hints at times. John
