I'm NEVER wrong when I'm sleeping, eating or using the bathroom. Those are the times when my confidence that I know exactly what I'm doing is incorrgible and indubitable. No one can dispute my unassailable logic while I'm sleeping because I'm not too responsive in that state. While eating, I usually have my mouth full so no refutations can happen then either. And if anyone offers up any good refutations to my reasoning, well, then I just take another big bite. The third situation presents so many layers of social complications and perturbations that it's best to not even mention it. Let's move on. All of the other times in my life apart from those three... well... let's not talk about those... so.... anyone have any food?
Well, we can assume you don't post while you're sleeping, but I don't know if you post while you're eating, and I don't want to speculate about the third...
It sounds like you're trying to say that not all of the posts found in that search were made by me. But you are wrong on that point, every single one was made by me. And that's because the search is limited and filtered to ONLY posts made by me. In other words, your correction is not a correction at all, merely a meaningless observation.
But let me ask you Jeff, how many times have you admitted to being wrong or making a mistake on this forum ? My primary point is this Jeff, you'll be hard pressed to finding anybody who admits to mistakes or being wrong more often than I do. And I am pointing it out because the exact opposite was claimed of being true of me. But the truth is, it isn't true at all, and I can prove it, have proved it. Can you ?
GDJMSP, posted: "Now some are probably going to scoff at that comment of mine where I say I do so myself. But I can back it up... And there are many, many others where I used different phrases admitting I was wrong." "The interesting part is how many others can say the same thing? My primary point is this Jeff, you'll be hard pressed to finding anybody who admits to mistakes or being wrong more often than I do." I'll lay claim to that. Fortunately, I have not been a member long enough to eclipse you or many others. Now, if I can only get you to admit that the raised lines on a coin due to polishing a die CAN and DO CROSS...
I been watching this thread. Though I’m not a newbie hobbyist, I am a newbie CT member. Running a fast paced highly competitive Office and raising two young kids at my age..... I have far more bickering in my life than I care to admit. CT and my coins are but a brief interlude to the constant friction in my life. I for one am in 100% agreement with the OP. I do not come here to participate in bickering. I am here to get away from it.
Thank you for saying "It sounds like". That's not at all what I was trying to say, but if you misunderstood what I was trying to say, that may well be my mistake (unclear writing), not yours. I was pointing out that you apparently thought you were searching for "I stand corrected", but you were actually just turning up posts that contain "stand" and "corrected". (I was wrong about the stem-search thing; all these results include "corrected", whether or not they also contain "correct".) On the other hand, you weren't the one using the phrase in many of those posts! That's because XenForo includes quoted text when it's searching. So, here, for example, it was @Kentucky standing corrected; you were just (again) reminding us all what we needed to re-think and remember. Here, it's @Dimefreak; here, @coinman0456; here, @TomCorona; here, @Vess1... and so on, presumably, for the rest of the pages of search results.
You're correct in a way Jeff. By actual count the search brings up 43 posts. In 7 of those I am not the one saying - I stand corrected. But in 36 of them I am the one saying - I stand corrected, Or the one admitting I was wrong. My point still stands. edit - I just realized I forgot something Jeff, I should have thanked you for pointing out my error that there were only 36 instances of me admitting I was wrong and not 43 of them. So thanks
This morning, week, month, year, or lifetime? Nice try, Doug, but something tells me you're well aware of the fact I'm perfectly happy, even eager, to admit wrongs/mistakes on my part. Additionally, I don't have the luxury of pulling rank or making threats intended to stop discussion I don't like or agree with. You're fairly objective, Doug. More so than most including some of your mods, but this certainly doesn't mean you're magically above all.
Nor have I ever claimed to be Books. To the contrary, my comments about this were to point out that I know I am not !
