What is the best online pricing site for coins? I collect coins just for fun some are old others are quite recent. My question is what is the best site to get a base value online? Would like to know if something is worth sending in to get graded. I dont want to dump a fair chunk of change into a coin that is worth little to nothing.

Check on line for coin shows or even coin clubs in your area, go there, you don't have to buy anything, but you will see most of the possibilities for you. Some like to follow a theme, others look for watch catches their eye. Listen a lot and talk little there and you will do well. Welcome, Jim
If this is the case I would respectfully suggest a different approach. The fact is there's a lot more to determining if a coin is worthy of a submission than simply looking at any price guide. In order for a coin to be worthy, the plastic must add something of value, be it independently verified authenticity to increased liquidity and/or everything in between. If not you're simply wasting your money, and this is assuming you're capable of both grading and identifying problems to whatever individual TPG standards. Many folks are not and is evidenced by the fact one can find many, many examples of coins residing in plastic that have absolutely no reason to be there. Buying already-slabbed and submitting for oneself are two totally different ballgames. If you don't know anyone who is both genuinely capable and willing to screen for you, please consider utilizing the forum, but just keep in mind that not everyone here knows what they're talking about. However, if you take things with a grain of salt and look for a majority consensus, the advice received will generally be solid. Good luck!
Just make sure to sort it by listings that have Sold. That'll give you the real price people are paying for them. If you look at just the active listings you'll come away thinking your coin is worth a fortune.

And if one is going to use sold eBay listings as a valuation tool they must also take fees and associated expenses into consideration. Additionally, it's also only reasonable to acknowledge the fact that prices can at times be inflated due to the prevalence of uneducated buyers. Unfortunately, there simply is no tool/reference that can allow one to place an exact value upon any or every coin. The best one can hope for, aside from possessing an intricate knowledge of their market, is a general range. However, in many instances this only works when the individual is genuinely capable of assigning a proper grade as well as identifying any issues or problems the coin may have. All goes back to knowledge.
PCGS Website Archives is also a great place to find out what slabbed registered coins have sold for and which auction house. This tool also shows how many have been slabbed and what grades the top population coins are.
