So I have a 1979 Washington Quarter I found and after looking at the reverse I noticed the extra line next to the first leaf on the bottom of the stem to the east from the center. Anyone know whats up with that?
Then I also just noticed this Bicentennial with the extra chunk of clad im assuming it is. Hanging from the pony tail and its a pretty good size chunk. I dont see how it could be pmd but I leave that to the experts. 0906180454a~2.jpg 0906180458c~3.jpg 0906180458a~2.jpg #2 0906180459~2.jpg 0906180500f~2.jpg 0906180507f~2.jpg 0906180506g~2.jpg

I'm not sure what you are referring to about the "extra line" as that is part of the design and appears on eagle reverses. Maybe I'm not following your question or seeing what you are. As for Washington's pony tail, just a bad hair day. LOL

The lower leaf above the O in DOLLAR looks like it is doubled.

You would think so but I am curious as to what it is exactly bc I have run across several of these myself with the same phenomena on different leaves of quarter reverses. If it were die deterioration it would be evident on other features.

I looked at an example of a mint state 1979 quarter reverse design and I can see how it looks like 2 leaves stacked on top of each other. I think it's the design and half of mine is worn off so its just half a line. ill upload close up of the area I was referring to
