1936 DD?

I'm new and learning. Does smashed dates and lettering equal a type of DD? I see it on the date, liberty, the word in, and then with some of the wording on the back.
Just need to know if this type of issue is good, bad, or of no extra value.

No, that is just a well circulated and possibly slightly damaged coin.

 

I've been looking over the 1936 DDO 1 type and to my virgin eyes that looks the same as what this coin shows.

Approach the coin with critical eyes. Forget what you think you are seeing. Use plenty of light and a good magnifier.

On your coin, there are bloated and blotchy letters that have been worn down and taken hits. Notice on the actual DDO how it appears to be a distinct secondary image? Take a look at the corners (such as the S in Trust or E in We). These show strong separation which is not present on your coin. This is a DDO - your is not.

 

Is there a safe way to clean the lettering at the top so I can look for doubling in the R?

The link you sent is much more in depth than what I was looking at thanks. I wasn't sure what I was looking at on the coin except what looked like letters being smudged when it was made.
