My most wanted coin is probably an ancient coin from the Roman Empire, preferably certified and graded by NGC. Just love the history.

Just an ancient coin from the Roman empire? Wow, that will be an easy one for you. They are very inexpensive for many of them.

Btw, the reason we hate slabs is that we collect ancient coins for the connection with history. We love to hold them in our hands. None have surfaces that fingerprints will damage, so we have that luxury. I do not feel a connection with plastic. :(

To answer the question, right now my most wanted coin might be a Gallic captive Roman Republican, or a merovingian coin, or a Yeuh Chi, or some Chinese spades. Depends on my mood. :) I have written about a few "white whales" I have speared in the last few years, like Cleo Portrait tet, Christopher silver, and Hormizd I and II coins, so not sure right now.

One I've been searching for quite a few years is the only one I just can't seem to find that I can afford - ideally a 1971 PF 69 UC Kennedy (NGC slab), or at the least, a PF 69 Cameo Kennedy (NGC slab). Best I've gotten so far is PF 68* Cameo.... 1971 is a tough year....

A bust half with a decent strike, and circ cam, or a 53 seated dollar in the same way. Easy to find, tough to get on a very limited budget.

For me, it would be a Seated dollar in VF - AU condition that has a "crusty" patina and original surfaces. :D

You could get some nice ancients for just a few dollars, I personally don't like slabbed coins, especially slabbed ancients, but you could get a nice slabbed late roman coin online for less than 20 dollars. Try Vcoins, Ebay has some great deals, but you run a higher risk of purchasing counterfeits than you do on Vcoins.

Now might be a decent time to buy those. The Robinson is well below its high price and the Wright Brothers Gold can be had for not much over melt (even with the falling spot price).

"Most wanted"-as in what I'm looking to buy right now, or as in a dream coin I'd love to own?

I'm currently on the search for a nice XF-AU SLQ for the Dansco. I haven't found one I like quite yet. Dream coin would be a pre 1800 Draped or Flowing Dollar, with nice details and some luster.
