I found this penny in my pocket change and i wanted to know if its the real deal. Can any one help me out. I placed on a gram scale and the weight is 3.0. I also have 2 other 1982p pennies that have the same weight.
Large date. The small date has a fully formed delicate swan's neck 2. The large date is a sloppy 2. Don't take this the wrong way, but you're not going to find a 1982-D small date copper, even if a 2nd one exists. It will be somebody else. That's just the math. There are BILLIONS of these coins.
Yes, It is a real cent. So you have a "real deal" 1982 D Large date cent. Unless you are asking if it is the "one", and only one 1982 D Small date copper cent. Then the answer is No. We recommend you don't watch all those youtube videos or clickbait webapges about making millions from pocket change.
Copper will have to go to $6 a pound if you were allowed to melt it, to break even. Cents are not Grade A copper, they are an alloy. Smelters pay 25% for alloyed copper. The people hoarding copper are in for a rude awakening when that day comes. I believe copper is around $2.65 and has never been above $4.50.
